At UWMC, I was responsible for all Web updates on the Rehabilitation Medicine public site, and worked on a team to develop new content dedicated to educating patients on what to expect in the program.

I was also charged with maintaining the intranet for use by our doctors, residents, and administrative staff. This included weekly class and meeting schedules, department contact information, and resident profiles. The information on the site was originally updated manually and took a lot of my time, so I took the initiative to rebuild the site using PHP and MySQL databases and web forms.

A large portion of my accomplishments at WhitePages involved bridging the divide between Ad Operations and Engineering. As the resident Atlas Ad Server expert in Engineering, I managed ads in our development environment for testing against our own code base. I developed images and code for custom ads, and translated the needs of our clients into specs and templates for other developers. I was consulted on calls with clients to prevent conflicts between their rich media content and our codeline.

In order to empower teams to solve the simple, recurring issues with ads, I developed and taught HTML/CSS workshops to Campaign Managers, and taught campaign loading to the Engineering Department.

Modulo Mundi

Modulo Mundi is a techno music project by bq Mackintosh. bq is a prolific composer, but wasn’t sure how to publish his music and get it to the right ears. We developed a production schedule for three individual releases: one seven-track EP with two supporting singles featuring remixes. Then we created his Web site, integrating it with the social networks and developing a publishing strategy that complimented his release schedule.

The client is a user interaction and graphic designer who was able to provide a lot of input on the look and feel of his digital and physical materials. I implemented his design by developing a custom WordPress theme.

Luke is a scenic builder who needed a portfolio site illustrating his freelance projects as well as his theatre work. As he dictated the details of his projects, I turned them into a narrative that included first-person asides to break up the information and give it a personal touch.

I started GongfuGirl.com in April of 2006 in an effort to learn more about tea and tea culture, and to become an online destination for other tea enthusiasts. The site continues to be a relevant resource for traditions, local resources, online resources, and book and product reviews.

I turned the site over to another writer in 2007 so I could pursue other projects, but I had created the foundation for an award-winning information resource that still garners praise from the tea industry and enthusiasts today.
